Introduction: Understanding the Heart of Your TVS iQube - The Battery
” The true power of the TVS iQube lies beneath its sleek design- that its battery”
The TVS iQube is the popular electric scooter in India even though it was launched in 2020. The trend or interest in the TVS iQube remains high.
In this blog, we dive into TVS iQube battery price in India, replacement cost, and warranty which are considered to be most important for current owners and new buyers.

ToggleLet's break into why these Factors Matter.
We are paying about or more than 40% of the entire vehicle cost to the TVS iQube scooter battery itself. Since the initial TVS iQube electric scooter battery price in India is significant, it will be more important to know whether we are getting our return on investment through the battery.
Further, the TVS iQube battery replacement cost will be expensive, especially when it fails prematurely or due to unforeseen circumstances. Since the battery warranty will provide peace of mind to electric scooter owners by covering the cost of the TVS iQube scooter battery replacement or repairs. but it won’t apply to all cases.
Because, the Warranty doesn’t cover unauthorized repairs, damage due to accidents, etc. Hence knowing the conditions or rules for warranty coverage will be so important. Don’t worry I will be covering all the details in this blog.
We will also investigate whether the iQube battery is giving good returns on its investment or not.
TVS iQube Battery Life
The TVS iQube electric scooter is equipped with lithium-ion batteries with an IP67 rating, specifically designed with NMC (Nickel Magnesium Cobalt) cell chemistry.
Further, this type of battery is well known for its reliability and longevity. We can expect about 60,000 to 75,000-kilometer battery life under normal usage.
TVS iQube Battery life based on Use
I have calculated the battery life in years based on daily use. Hence you will get a basic idea of the minimum and maximum TVS iQube electric scooter battery life. (This calculation is applied if you are charging the battery after discharging to 0% capacity)
Daily Compute (km) | Estimated Battery Life (Minimum) | Estimated Battery Life (Maximum) |
10 km | 16.44 years | 19.18 years |
20 km | 8.22 years | 9.59 years |
30 km | 5.48 years | 6.39 years |
40 km | 4.11 years | 4.79 years |
50 km | 3.29 years | 3.84 years |
60km | 2.74 year | 3.2 years |
However, most of the users do follow the partial charging practice. Like charging the battery till 80% and recharging the battery whenever it reaches 20%. In that case, there will be a significant increase in the battery life.
If you drive 30 km per day, then iQube will give you a battery life of about 9 years (company’s claim).
Further, the TVS iQube gives up to 100 kilometers on a single charge. Hence, we can conclude that the TVS iQube scooter will support 800 charging cycles (approximately 75,000 kilometers).
This means you can fully charge and discharge the battery about 800 times before it starts to degrade significantly. Also note, after this, we need the battery replacement service. Since battery degradation is a reversible process, the only solution is to buy a new TVS iQube battery.
You can still use the TVS iQube scooter after 800 charging cycles. Since it will support the next 500 cycles with a reduced range of 80% to 90%. That means you will be getting a range of 80-90 km instead of 100km.
Why isn’t worth riding an electric scooter with a degraded battery
However, the battery’s performance will likely have degraded after 800 charging cycles. This means you may also notice
- Decrease in charging speed
- The battery may take more time to charge
- Reduced overall power output
- Heating issues while charging the battery
- Scooter may struggle to carry more weight like before

TVS iQube Battery Replacement Cost
Based on reports, the TVS iQube battery will cost more than 40% of the entire scooter. Hence you may end up paying more than Rs. 60,000. It is just the estimation (as the company hasn’t specified the replacement cost) but the actual price may vary based on the model variant. Also, the cost of a battery relies on the current price of lithium too.
Currently, there are three battery variants available 5.1 kWh, 3.4 kWh, and 2.2 kWh.
Also, based on the past 10 years price trend of EV batteries.
- Between 2010 and 2015, the price of EV lithium batteries declined by an average of 20% per year.
- Between 2015 and 2020, the price decline accelerated, with an average annual decline of 30%.
- Since 2020, the rate of decline has slowed slightly, but prices have continued to fall.
There is a significant decline in EV lithium battery prices. So, we can expect the TVS iQube battery price in India will fall shortly too. Also read – Future of Electric Vehicles – 2024
TVS iQube Battery Warranty
The TVS iQube battery warranty period is about 3 years or 50,000 km (whichever comes first).
Also note, the battery warranty won’t cover the damage caused by:
- Poor maintenance: This includes neglecting regular maintenance tasks like checking battery levels, cleaning contacts, and storing the scooter properly.
- External factors: These factors can include accidents, natural disasters, or exposure to extreme weather conditions.
- Negligent use: This includes using the scooter beyond its intended use or operating it in a way that is not by the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Normal wear and tear: This includes the gradual deterioration of the battery over time due to its regular use.
- Modifications: This includes any alterations made to the battery or the scooter that are not authorized by TVS.
You can also extend the TVS iQube battery warranty period for an additional 2 years or 20,000 kilometers (whichever comes first) by paying the extra cost. Based on my estimation it will be around Rs 5000 to 10,000.
I would prefer you extend the warranty because the cost of the extension is significantly lower than the cost of repair of the battery pack.
TVS iQube Battery Return on Investment
Let’s compare the iQube petrol equivalent Honda Activa 6g. Both have almost similar performance specs.
I assuming 10 years duration of use, the 1-unit electricity price is Rs 7 and the 1-liter petrol price is Rs 100. Both TVS iQube and Honda Activa user travels 30 km per day.
The mileage of the Honda Activa 6G is 60 km per liter
Total distance in 10 years:
- Distance per year = 30 km/day × 365 days = 10,950 km
- Total distance in 10 years = 10,950 km × 10 years = 109,500 km
Fuel needed:
Fuel required = Total distance ÷ Mileage
Fuel required = 109,500 km ÷ 60 km per liter = 1,825 liters
Cost of petrol:
- Assuming the price of 1 liter of petrol is ₹100, the total cost of petrol over 10 years will be:
1,825 liters * Rs 100/ liter = 1,82,500
So, the total cost spent on petrol over 10 years would be approximately ₹1,82,500.
Energy Consumption for Daily Travel:
- Range per full charge = 100 km
- Battery capacity = 3.04 kWh
- For 30 km of daily travel, energy consumption will be:
Energy required = (30km/100km) * 3.04kWh = 0.912 kWh/day
Annual Energy Consumption:
- Energy consumed daily = 0.912 kWh
- Energy consumed in one year: 332.88 kWh/year * 10 years = 3,328.8 kWh
Electricity Cost over 10 Years:
- Electricity rate = ₹7 per kWh
- Total electricity cost: 3,328.8 kWh * Rs 7/kWh = Rs23,301.6
So, the total expense of electricity for TVS iQube is about Rs 23,301. Also, the battery for life the 30 km/day will be 9 years (explained above). Let’s assume the iQube user replaced the battery with a price of Rs 70,000.
Hence the total cost will be Rs 23,301 + Rs 70,000 = Rs. 93,301.
Hence based on my calculation, the TVS iQube electricity cost + battery replacement cost is significantly lower than the Honda Activa 6g petrol cost.
Hence, I can conclude we are getting a 2x return on investment towards the TVS iQube battery over the Honda Activa 6g in a 10-year duration.
I have excluded other maintenance chargers for both scooters. But anyhow maintenance charges of petrol scooter will a lot higher than electric scooter in 10 years duration. Hence, still TVS leading in return on investment.
